Darren B wrote:I understand your gripe Aaron. Just so that you understand, no decisions on this seasons qualification process was made until the 2nd last week of season 2 where we had less then 80 players qualify for the Regional Final at that time. So, no we did not have this implemented from the beginning. It is all a work in progress!!

That's what I was getting at - didn't mean to imply that you guys had this idea from the beginning of the season. Seems like something that would've been cooked up in the final few weeks, when you realised you weren't going to get a huge amount of runners.

Darren B wrote:Now, having stated the above, operations has decided to reward the first two players from each venue in the top 10 that didn't make 15 games but still played more than 10. I understand people have gone out of their way to reach the 15 game cutoff but ultimately it is only 20 more people.

That seems fair.

Darren B wrote:So, to break it down for you.....
103 qualifiers
20 top ten (2 from each venue)
10 Clare qualifiers (Clare has no where else to qualify unless they travel 100+ kms for any other game)

Hope this satisfies your curiosity guys.

103, that's up from last year - if I remember correctly we had 80-odd. Up is always good :) Good on ya for letting Clare in.

You mentioned to me once that you were thinking about making regionals a top 60 (based on average) thing, making it more exclusive. That way players will actually be trying to get into points and the field will be a lot more skilled. I personally love this idea, but I'm not sure how it would fly with everyone else. Anyway, its just an idea.

It was just an idea that never made it to the table. A ten game qualification process will make it an exclusive 150 players :D

I like this idea as well because it rewards players for their results not registering.

the whole point of the regional final is to make people play more though, so making it top 60 isn't going to do this.

i think 10 games is good, because it will mean more than 150 players, and create some competition at both the bottom and top of the leaderboard, not just at the top.

the only problem i can see with a 150 runner field is that there aren't too many places in the barossa that will handle that

Thanks for correcting me AK, I wasn't sure if that was the right spelling, but I didn't have the inclination to check it last night.

Thanks for clearing that up Darren, I thought that may have been the scenario but was just curious. Now I know why you were asking for numbers at Willaston 2 weeks ago.

Are you sure the extra runners weren't Matty's idea just to give his wife a shot at taking home the money? :D :D :D

Nah, seriously, the more the merrier at regionals- it makes for a bigger challenge and more fun.

Darren B wrote:You're right about that benny the cunt. Season 3 leaderboard will be more about firsts, seconds and thirds then just plain consistency.

Gee Darren, that's funny :P

Note the distinct lack of 1sts, 2nds and 3rds (ok, one). This is my top 10... and apart from being consistent, I haven't done anything else. And I'm leading the region 49 to 43. Bit much, don't you think!? I'm having a pretty average season.
