Just for the record - I wasn't chasing points for player of the week. Like flat24501, I love the social aspect, getting out, having a couple of drinks and getting that good 'ol gambling rush. And I wanna make states this season :D

I just feel NPL might drive more business if the POTW was a little more open.

I don't have the numbers NPL would, but I suspect there would be lots of people out there who might add another 2-3 games a week, but not so many who would add 4-5.

I've got a feeling this POTW promo may well encourage people to do this.

It should be your best 3 games, or your best 3 average, none of this total points crap. Player A plays 16 games a week (is this even possible?), DNP all 16. 160 points. Player B plays 4 games a week, 1st, 4th, 12th and 5th. Forget the amounts of runners or points, lets just say he ends up with 155.

How in the hell is that fair.

have a read of what i wrote again and take back what you said. i agreed with you and also play for the social reason and get the ponits for two reason one i play most night and to i get in the ponits . but i would like to see it fair for all players like yourself who cant make it to as many or afford it...i was the one to say make it the best 3 games of the week . i won the saturday ticket last week and to tell you the truth i can go with out it because i just like to play.... and if i win along the way cool.... but if it was made 3 then a player who did well early in the week might play a couple of more times because they have a chance to win a ticket share them around i say or Mr Bickle Harvey and Matty G will win them ever week by play 125 games a season...lol play your hearts out boys

Hi Guys,
Obviously any new promotion we launch will need a settling period.
I am watching these leaderboards closely and will see what we can do towards the end of the season.

Unfortunately SKYCITY has spent quite a bit on designing and printing POS so we cannot change the qualifying systems for awhile.

Which leads me to another hotly contested issue previously raised.
We are having a senior management meeting next week in Melbourne.
This meeting will go for four days and we will be planning out a lot of the movements of the company and also where we will be heading in 2009 with NPL. There will be a lot of discussion on many things but one of the points I do want to raise here is the points spread for positions.

Currently I do not think the points reflect the achievement of winning a tournament or finishing on the final table. I would like to see the spread (1st to 15th) widened a little bit more, I would also like to see a greater reward for those who finish first in 60+ fields and 100+ fields.

If we implement some changes like this I do believe this will have a huge impact on the PotW leaderboard.

Would love to see this implemented. Would also open up the venue leader boards a little i would have thought - keep people coming back for more weeks of the season.

Do you anticipate any change to the number of places that get points? I'm sure I've suggested it somewhere before, but what about something like an "honorable mention", say 20pts, for finishing inside the last 30 in a 100+ field? so when you hit 4x8 tables, everyone then gets points. it would be too hard to keep track of places from 30 in i'm assuming.

Don't players playing in 60+ or 100+ fields get greater reward already (1 point per player?). 110 points is already greater reward compared to 40 points for a 30 player venue.

Widening the points system would probably be a good thing, but is there evidence that this would significantly influence leaderboard placings?

Its my gut feeling that they wouldn't change that much and the the same players would still make top 5, but i could be wrong. What are other players thoughts on this?

I think people should worry more about showing up every week to begin with :)

Every season I'm surprised how many people nearish to the top 5 could have actually qualified if they didn't miss that game or 2 or 3.
Pardon me, but I think you'll find that's a shovel. See you next Tuesday!
