I started to read the 12 page thread about a player on being on a "good behaviour bond" suspended after swearing at a friend in jest (I didn't finish it)
My question is: If such a harsh stance was taken against this player why isn't the same stance being taken for ALL 888PL players who swear loudly at venues?
I have played at a venue where one player has a history of abusing other players and while the TC immediately pulls him out of the game when he offends, he is still allowed to play the following week.
There is an apparent inconsistency with the application of this rule.

Re: Swearing and other forms of abuse
I guess it depends on the TD. Perhaps each week TD's should send each other a memo like umpires in the AFL do about a certain rule, how it is applied and what should be done in such circumstances. So the memo here would outline the rules which prohibits foul language and make it clear that if anyone swears aloud they will be given a single/double warning and if they do it thereafter they will be suspended for X days/months/season.

Re: Swearing and other forms of abuse
I would strongly suggest that you notify us via email of this player, the venue and the TC who continually allows this to happen.
Some TC's are much more lenient than others and allow a lot to slide, this is something we will be working on over the coming months, as all management members start heading out to venues and training TC's.

Re: Swearing and other forms of abuse
Ull also find Peter that said player has been put on a very short leash ATM, I have spoken to player at length and delved deeper into the reason for his behaviour during that period.
He has been restricted by the amount of alcohol he is allowed to consume during any one game. He has also limited the number of games that he is playing and has played them as non abusive and sober from what I have observed.
That's of course if we are talking about the same person.
U will find Peter that the majority of the TCs do a lot of prodding and probbing behind the scenes to rectify most players behavioural problems. That's if they're prepared to listen and open up of course.

Re: Swearing and other forms of abuse
I've got no problem with the way the TC has been handling the person in question... he does a sterling job in a sometimes difficult venue. I was only using that as an example that I thought there is an inconsistency on how the swearing/abuse ruling is applied, particularly in the case of the guy being suspended for swearing at a friend.
Obviously there is more to the story but from an outside perspective it appears inconsistent.

I suggest you read the whole thread then Pete before using that instance as a measuring stick to other incidents.

Re: Swearing and other forms of abuse
I mentioned this in another thread, as well as the table etiquette and I am sure Garth will attest to the fact I really have issues with the way some players treat other players, whether it be in a drunken stupor, a bad beat or they are just jerks.
My case in point was the way we had a player at the Teams Event that was Jeckle and Hyde in personality
I realise this is possibly one of the most difficult areas to actually work in, due to so many influences being a factor, but there has to be a point, where we as players stand up to these bullies and aggro's and say enough is enough... without having to run to a TC to 'dob them in'.
I just want to say though, my problem isn't with people that swear as everyday conversation. It is about people using swear words as a form of denigration, bullying or just plain giving us poker players a bad rep at venues where there are kids walking by...
But I can only imagine how difficult it is for TC's at times to walk that tight line between allowing individuals to be just that 'individuals' and stopping unacceptable behaviour.
I hope this makes sense...
