Thinking probably a hit the straight, if not maybe it was a bet to see where i was at. It took probably 3 minutes for him to call the raise.

River: 2d - Hated his card, would have loved to see the board pair or another high card

You have 40, pot is 39. What do you think looks stronger, betting 26 and leaving yourself with 14, or shoving.

If you shove it looks like a bluff.

Also, if he's a LAG and calls your flop bet with bottom pair he will call a shove. There is not much difference between him calling 26/40 on that river.

I agree with Aaron here. You have played it perfectly on previous streets to set you up for a river shove, so I would just go ahead and do that. Betting 3/4 of your remainig stack screams "I want to get paid". I think shoving is completely fine. Even if u had slightly more, ie 60 left on the river, I think it's still ok to overbet shove if your opponent is lag and is going to call down light

I reckon most of my recent successful river bluffs have been with smaller bets, certainly an allin is more likely to be picked off as a bluff...

Of course, you know these players, so there is some judgment there, but as Aaron said, why leave $14 of $40 behind?

Personally, I would more likely fold to the $26 river bet than a shove...
