Not really that bad a beat I guess, but in context it REALLY sucked.... hence the need to write it out!

first, context. Have been card dead the last few times I've played and same tonight, so when this flop hit, I was kind of excited....

on to the cards....

get dealt

[ah] [kh]

this was my first ace for the night. previous best hands were K10, K10 and pocket 3s. We are now at the just before the second break... had won 2 or 3 very small pots

two places to my right (UTG) we have an all in for just less than my stack of 2500, have seen some lose plays from him earlier, so I call. Everyone else folds. Good.

He rolls over

[as] [qs]

I cheer - tonight is going to get better :-)

flop comes

[ks] [kd] [3s]

Yay me - trips. Oooohhhhh...... that would be a flush draw out there.

Turn

[9s]

and no pairing of the board, or ace or king for me on the river.

this left me with half a small blind.... night over.

Late game at checkmates looked soooo temping right there ;-)

Thats right. No nothing for me on the river. Sometimes I don't even know why we bother with a river ;-)

I've edited the op to make that a little clearer.

I'm with you on that one buddy. Playing a few nights ago, all in on pocket 6s, A 10 calls me. He catches FOUR clubs on the board (the final one on the river) to make a flush. Sigh.

that exact thing has happened to me in BOTH state finals but with pocket kings, after being re-raised i go all in, he calls, catch trips both times but 4 hearts on the board make him the nut flush

next finals i will fold kings everytime lol

I didn't even want to call, A 10 was the one that raised all in. But I didn't have that many chips left and it felt like the right move. Felt like the right move pre-flop.

I hate it when you've got the better hand and they catch 4 *insert suit* to beat you. I hardly see flushes winning with 3 clubs on the board, let alone 4...

Started the night first hand with pocket A's dealt to me, flop hits an A, other player goes all in lol called it real quick (trip A's first hand) and took the pot. Paid for it all night ...... AdKd dealt, raised hard and was called all in He had AJ offsuit. I was leading after the flop then the turn came..... J and the river ..... J
All night I was raising hard with top cards and winning after the flop with my opponents all in and getting done on the turn and river.
Some nights you just cant take a trick.
