Online Horse Torny,
Heads Up:
Me 30k in chips
The enemy 23k in chips
In less than 1 min the game will be 2.5k / 5k limit holdem
payouts are
1st $256
2nd $172
enemy says chop take $214 each? as we are now entering crapshoot country
I agree to chop
Your Thoughts?

Your choice. If you think you can beat him and you want the win, go for it. If not, chop it. The chip lead isn't that skewed that you're getting a bad deal - in one hand you could be in his position, or worse.

I was unaware any online sites offered the option to make a deal through the software itself - would this be a matter of the winner transferring the difference to the loser? Because in that case, I wouldn't agree to anything, because while I'm honest, I don't trust anyone on the internet to be, and have little doubt that should my opponent win, they'll conviniently forget to transfer it, and I'm unsure chatlogs represent any binding agreement. That said, assuming it was all set in stone, I'd take a chop there. As you said, getting to the crapshoot stage, and your chip lead isn't so commanding that you have much leverage to argue for a better deal, or such that the risk involved in heads up is minimal.

Look at the equity. 53k in chips.
You holding 30/53 in chips = 56.6%
He is Holding 23/53 = 43.4
Total Prize Pool is 428
Split of 50% is 214
Unfavourable for you as you have just given up 6% of a lead for a return of 42. 214-172 =42 or 256-214
straight % chop is 242/184
Obviously if you thought you could beat him, always no deal.
If not probably play for 200 each + 28 to the winner.
The longer way.
Both Guaranteed 172
172 * 2 = 344
Prize pool left = 84
Split by chip = 47.54/36.46
Totals 219/ 208
Still like the 200 plus play for the 28. Gives you the swing of -19 or 9, his swing is -8 or 28. He has the longer swing, but more profit, we are a little bit at risk.

you made that pretty complicated brett
53K in chips on the table, you have 30. therefore 30/53 = 56%
total prize pool is 428.
56% of this is $239.6 and this is your expectation with that amount of chips.
so taking a deal you are undercutting yourself. if he offered a 240/188 split then i would have gone for it.
NO DEAL (crosses arms and screams at andrew o'keefe)

benny the cunt, thats the thought pattern i was going down with first.
However, You are guaranteed 2nd place for $172.
The chip chop then comes from what is left over which is the 56% of $84
Which is $47 approx. add that on to the 172 gives you the number of 219.
That is his current equity at the moment.

There is a lot more behind a chip chop negotiations than what first appears.
I have seen 5th place, get an extra 8k in the Sunday Million because he had the power in the negotiations. And the others wanted to settle too easily. Big scores, but they were willing to get rid of the cash so that they had the dollars. but for 5th, 35k to 43k is a huge jump.

I refused a deal yesterday that would have netted me slightly more cash, however it was only a deal proposed (as with the original post) by a player. Admin hadn't stepped in and given any chop figures.
After seven hours of play ... I was considering it though. longest tourney relative to the field I've played in a long time, and I'm now wishing the table had agreed to let Admin throw some numbers at us.
