I need to stop representing, but still, HOW CAN U CALL THIS!

Postby bennymacca » Tue Aug 12, 2008 11:32 pm

i have 4600, blinds are 200/400, folds around to me in the SB, and i call with

[6d] [8d]

flop comes [7s] [2s] [2c]

i lead out for 1200, trying to take the pot, but i get a call.

turn
[3d]

i check, BB checks

river [as]

at this stage, the pot is worth 3200, and i have 3K left.

i decide to fire all in, representing an ace or a small flush.

after a while the player (who finished high in our region) called about 75% of his stack, and turned over

[qc] [3s] for a pair of 3s.

WTF?!!?

i know its my fault for representing, so i am not expecting anyone to give me sympathy, but seriously...

Does this player play with you often? If so, you can call with that hand all day long. As if you wouldn't try and get some more chips out of him with a smaller bet if you'd hit hard?

I get it all the time myself ;) I had someone chase a runner, runner flush last week, "just because it was me". Ah, I just love it when players do that.

Plays with you quite often, and this is a play you claim (in the subject line), to make quite often? I'd say that might mean something. Unless of course you B&G'ers don't bother paying attention to your opponents? ;)

As for jamming with it, I can't fault for you making it hard for him to call - i'd most likely do it myself, but the "story" your selling doesn't ring true when that ace falls and you jam. Any hand you've got with an ace, you'd be raising with preflop? I have no idea why he called, and I'd find it hard myself....

Like I said, I really can't fault it too much, but those are my thoughts anyway :D

i am not raising with A4 through to A7 in that case

i would have done the same thing if i actually had an ace, or if i was slow playing a 2, or if i had any pocket pair, or if i had a flush or..

but i know what you are saying, and i can't complain if someone makes that call on me.

I probably would've made the same call. You didn't feel that strong on the turn, and at the point, I would've thought that my 3 was good. If you had Ax and hit it, that's just unlucky. Whatever the river was, Dan was calling.

Edit: Disregard that, I forgot you bet on the flop. I would've folded or pushed on the flop. If he had the guts to call your bluff though, I might have thought my 3 on the turn was good and called anything. But yeah, its a bit loose man.

It has to have been a read of sorts, either that or he just wanted to go home ;)

i think its more like - i have a pair, surely its good, and he didn't really think of what i was holding.

this player regularly pushes with 22 preflop on a full table and then shows when everyone folds like it was a good fold for everyone else
