This is what i was getting at. What do we actually beat here?

AK and pocket pairs (although very unlikely pocket pairs which did not make a set bet here)

Would any of you guys fire another bullet on the turn with the flush draw?

I think this is probably the only place I could have improved the hand.I had him on a pair so I wasn't overly worried of a flush.

There's definitely an argument for a bet there as a high spade is definitely within his range.

does anyone else think we can bet/fold the turn in the first hand (i.e bet and fold if shoved on?)

that is a sigh fold on that river though, we beat nothing.

a nice trick with aces, is if someone gives you significant action, i.e raises or shoves, just ask yourself

"i have 1 pair, 1 pair only, is it good here?"

helps you not get married to them

You just got shafted on the end mate - don't sweat it too much.

If you want my thoughts, see below

I was licking my lips when Ace2kings raised, then you put in the large re-raise I thought I would smooth and hopefully get A2K to punt up some extra $$ and avoid an A flop. Without knowing how you play - i thought big A or big pair, and was hoping A2K had an A too - making flopping an A more difficult.

When A2K bailed i thought i had the likely best hand.

When I checked the safe flop, i expected most opponents would c-bet & I was very pleased to see your bet. My thoughts were now my KK was most likely the best, but if you had QQ or AA i was in strife- I decided to call just on the off chance you had me smashed. If you had have checked the flop, I would have lead the turn. Your bet got more of my chips in the pot - good move, but as you can appreciate, It was looking good on my side of the table too (or so I thought).

Your turn check behind was unexpected. I expected you to bet and for me to repeat my thought processes on the flop.

If you bet the turn, I would have called. If you shoved the flop or turn..........
....... i think i still call because it would indicate to me that you were weak not strong.

Obviously the river floated down from heaven for me - because if it didn't my entire stack would have been yours!*

*unless i hit one of my spade outs.
If a non-ace river comes - im betting most of my stack with commitment to the hand. If you are holding the few (likely) hands that beat me - thats my bad luck.
I think alot of hands I beat (AQ,KQ,JJ,10,10) call a river bet and I don't like checking safe rivers when I likely have the best hand and can get called by worse.
I also bluffed, and was called, on 2 recent pots (i think you were one of my callers) - adding to the chance that a worse hand (that was paying attention) would call.
If an A rivers, i check/fold.

AA vs KK is similar to set vs set - it usually plays itself. There are a few different ways we could have both played the hand - but in my view it all goes in the middle 99% of the time in Q high boards.

I hope my thoughts helped.
May all your pain be champagne!

pretty decent thought process there gmatical.

and you are dead right, AA vs KK is a cooler. in this hand, its kinda weird that the money only went in on the river

Yeah I hear what you say with the self asked question and it's a good idea. Thanks

What I didn't mention that this was in the rebuy period of the Murrin so I was going all in on flop no matter what.

Thanks gmatical.

I think maybe that previous bluff that I called you on may of been in the back of my mind to call it... I don't know.

It was a good hand that had both of us thinking we were reeling the other in. I can't say I actually enjoyed it but I am happy to learn from it. I am proud of myself for not tilting out of tourny and getting back into the action.

Hey Dave,

I don't want to sound like some zen master, but if you stop thinking this way, it might help!! All you are doing is putting negative thoughts and energy out there.....

But FWIW, if you check that turn because of the flush draw, you gotta be prepared to lay down on a river shove....(although in the rebuy period, the rules do change a fair bit)....
