Its pub poker, dude.

I must confess I do get a bit tired of people saying this is "free poker, or pub poker", you take it too seriously, or who cares.

Lets be honest, we might not pay to get into every tournament. But a majority of us strive to make "States" which are not prizes to ever be sneezed at, especially now with the new competition in place.

But then again, I never noticed the standard of game being played at the Casino being any better when I played there. It was just as disgusting.

frustrated, i know how you feel mate. believe me i was the first one on here to be complaining about all the bad beats i copped.

firstly, dont even attempt a cbet most of the time, because any pair is good to these players, and they never think about any cards but their own

secondly, whenever you bet beat, ask yourself - if i was in the same position again, and i knew what cards they had, would i make the same move again? if the answer is yes, then it becomes much easier to accept the beat.

if the answer is no (i.e you might have thought twice about jamming the AK), then it gives you something to work on to improve your game.

bad beats are the hardest thing to deal with as a poker player, i still can't.

I absolutely agree with that. The prize money is not insignificant. Who cares? I think that Pacific Poker certainly cares.

benny the cunt it does hurt. I don't think you can improve your game much though. Peoples ranges can be anything from AK AQ to 23 off suit. So even when you think you have the nuts - you can't be sure. It is a skill in poker to put people on accurate ranges and then exploting that.

I have recently played against some big names like Tony Hachem, Aaron Tran, Steve Topakas, Sammy Yousef and generally they have very tight ranges. But in this league anyone can have anything at anytime and it's always a gamble.

if they have a wide range, all that means is that you will have a greater EV when playing against them. the tradeoff is that your variance also goes through the roof, and this can drive anyone insane.

stick with it though. the best thing about online, especially online "pub poker" is that you are playing massive amounts of hands against complete fishes. use this to your advantage.

disclaimer: i am dishing out this advice like variance doesn't affect me any more, but at the moment i am running pretty good, so its easy to give this advice at the moment!

I'm always sure when i have the nuts!

Pokerpro deepstack at Melb - Nuts on flop, nuts on turn, - got all my money in - no longer nuts on river.

It happens, as said before this thread, you will encounter non-thinking donks wherever you play.

I saw quite a few at Melb champs.

And i enjoyed taking their money on the ca$h tables after the main tourney.

Keep your head up and we'll see you when you return from the inferior leagues knowing then JUST HOW BAD players can get!
