Alternative Structures at other providers

Postby gundog » Sat Apr 09, 2011 10:38 am

As the heading suggests I played with another provider last night.

Why ?
I couldnt play the Cas incorrect footware so no use even trying to go there.
Southern Venues wrong side of town
Paradise and Payneham a bit off the beaten track.
That left Salisbury West which I have played a couple of times its ok but !

So instead I played at a venue I like which is now part of the darkside.

What I did enjoy was their blind structure, and start stack, which I thought I would put it out there for comment.

1st 4 blind levels are 10 minutes.
Break
The next 4 are 12 minutes
Break
Then remain at 15 minutes to the finish.

Starting stack is 5000, with a loyality bonus of 5000 (Effectivly if you turn up every week your start stack is 10k) you have 2 cards which are worth 5000 each, the bonus is if you have both cards at the 1st break they are worth 15000 in total.

Game started at 7.30 and the winner was declared around 1130, with 40 plus runners.
42.7 percent of all statistics are made up on the spot.

Not sure what you're trying to achieve here?
Pardon me, but I think you'll find that's a shovel. See you next Tuesday!

So your post is really about "what do you think of this blind structure?"

Let's change the title then, can't have people getting confused.

Lets say you had 60-70 which this venue says it needs make a profit, main reason it changed. Whats is your opinion about how this would effect the finishing time with an extra 700 000 chips in play. Also how did you find the small little tables.

BBT yes the tables were a bit smaller but I dont see this as an issue, when the field combined to 2 tables I had 3 very large blokes on my table and it wasnt uncomfortable.

Last night I would guess there was about 1,000,000 chips in play at final table, but I have no idea of how an extra 700,000 chips would add to the end time, I suppose there are other experts here that could work out the net effect.

Talking to a few of the regulars it appears the club is happy with the numbers. In saying that the crowd was the usual regulars who have played the venue for ages, there was also faces that I have seen at other 888pl venues and a number of I suppose reg NPL players.

BBT what did you think of the blind timing structure.

It's probably more to do with this not being a forum for other poker providers.

Nobody really cares about them, but there was nothing wrong with asking about a particular structure - which you did say was all you really wanted to know.

My opinion when trying other providers is that I really have not taken much notice of the blind structures. I suppose should have as a player but there were other factors that were more important to me at the time. My opinion ( and it is just my opinion and probably off topic) but if they don't have the staff with the knowledge to be able to solve disputes quickly ( work out side pots, declare the winning hand etc and with the people management skills to calm down or control those annoying players who try and ruin it for everyone while still finding to help the new player also I will not be back. Also if the venue's staff are rude or really slow I would not attend again ( only that venue). I have had some really bad experiences at some and swore I would never go back.

gundog i changed it because its appropriate that the title of the thread lets other forum users know about what is going to be in the thread. with your original title, it wasn't clear what you were talking about.

sorry i should have PM'd you
