My dream is becoming realised.

I thought I would share this with you guys as I am really excited about my non 888PL side project at this time.

It has always been a goal of mine to legitimise the pub poker industry and to formulate a self governing accord as well as a tribunal to handle all operators/player complaints.

In recent weeks on another forum that I frequent I finally put my foot down and decided to move forward with my idea and posts:

http://www.pokernetwork.com/forums/home-club-games/23902-attention-all-pub-poker-providers-managers-employees.html

I now have a conglomerate of providers willing to form this accord and industry body and I have poker players willing to support it wholeheartedly. I have a special Australian, well known, poker player willing to chair the first meeting we ever have.

I am pretty pumped about this for reasons that might not be apparent to you, as a player:

*it begins to legitimise the pub poker industry as a sector of the gaming/entertainment industry and will no longer be seeing as a"fad" or short term product

* adds credence to the fact that pub poker leagues can hold legitimite tournaments on par with casinos

* instigates national operational, advertising and competition guidelines.

* give players another avenue to voice their concerns and complaints to a governing body rather than to the managers of the providers their grievance is with.

* allows operators to take their grievances with other operators to a governing body without the need to publicly slander each other.

* forms a nationally accredited training program for all TD's

*strict rules and guidelines for prize pool distribution - complete transparency for players and no perception of "shady" goings-on.

* gives the stamp of approval to providers allowing consumers to know that they are protected by Accord STANDARDS OF EXCELLENCE and PROMISE TO PLAYERS.

So anyways, as players I thought you should be the first to know that this is something I have long dreamed of and am hoping to have formed within the year.

What do you think?

Sounds interesting Garth. So does this mean all pub poker providers will be represented and make rules and regulations for the whole pub poker industry?

Congratulations - hope the industry supports you and it would be soooooooooooooooooooooooooooo good for you guys (and players) if stand alone poker rooms (non-casino based) could be legitimised - hell, if they can have bingo halls I don't see why they can't have card rooms.

Great idea Garth.

I can understand your excitement with your dream. To have all poker leagues legitimized and working together will solidify the future of pub poker.

I have always enjoyed the professional way in which 888pl has operated and wish you all the best in your endeavors.

have just read through the whole thread, best of luck with getting your goals realised garth because it sounds like a great idea for the industry as a whole and may help to legitimize the good operators and weed out the others...

I have been reading your ongoing thread on PN and could see your passion coming out in there!

It is great seeing you gather support, I hope it all comes together for you (achieving what you want personally) & for the poker industry as a whole :)

its a great idea garth

the only bad thing i can see happening is that 888pl lose market share, because other providers are brought up to its standard.

but it will definitely legitimise the industry as a whole

My dream is becoming realised.
