There will always be players who for whatever reason be unable to participate in the special venue events for GF seats, events like the Grand Frenzy and the 10 player winner take events are terrific.
I would have loved a seat for this weekends event, I was unscccessful in procuring a seat via the frenzy, a 10 player WTA and buying a unwanted seat, however I could have purchased a seat by the direct buy-in, but an extended night at the Cas put paid to that, lack of sleep is a killer.
I can afford to buy-in if I desire but there are many player out there who just could not justify spending $500 on a seat plus other expenses, so this my idea for debate.
The 10 player $50 a chair with the winner getting a seat is a great idea and very suitable for larger venues, is it possible for TC's at smaller challenge venues to run mini tournements over 10 weeks.
At some stage during a normal challenge when 10 players are available and willing to pay $10 per chair, play a turbo freeze out game, with the winner taking a chair in the venue end of season final table, with 1st and 2nd earning a seat in the GF.
Basic maths 10 player per night = $100 x 10 weeks= $1000= 2 seats.
I would love to hear from TC's there thoughts about running an additional event, also from everyone suggested blind structure, blind times and start stack.

Re: Ideas to make the GF even Bigger.
Yeah i don't mind that idea gundog.
I do like the idea of having a GF game of some kind, either in the format you mentioned or some other format as a season ending event for each challenge venue. Makes it easier for players to plan their schedules to play these events, and would boost both the GF prizepool, and the numbers of players exposed to challenge events - hopefully increasing numbers at challenge events regularly.
The only problem i forsee with that idea though is that a season ending event would require extra staffing that your normal (however most larger challenge events have two staff members anyway don't they?)
Anyway, i like it. Will generate lots of tickets which is only a good thing.
