Almost made it to day 2 (roughly 30min was left on day 1 came 72nd roughly!) , I'm so shattered right now, but I only had around 24K, and decided to call an all in with AJ, he rolled AK, and hit the King on the river!
I figured i would've needed at least 50K (very minimum) going into day 2 to have any shot at all in getting into the cash.
But in saying that I sat on around 10k for about 3 1/2 hours, and got down to 4.5k at one stage and fought back, so that I can take a positive out of I suppose and the fact I've only been playn poker seriously since April this year.
It's pretty hard to build a stack when you don't get AA, KK, QQ, or even JJ at least once in a deepstack.

Re: Where you finish at the Grand Final & how did you lose?
had around 65k
last 4-5 orbits i always got a raising hand in the c.o.
thus the BB thinks im picking on him (which i expected him to play back at me sometime)
blinds 1500/3000/300
i raise to 12k with 88 in the CO
BB flat calls
Flop 10 4 2 (i think, definately was rag rag)
Now i thinking he's gonna push back at some point, because it looks like im picking on him.
He bets 20k
I shove
Instacall with KK
Brick Brick
Des goes home around 90th or something. Didn't really check.
And I wont get started about how Seti acted after he 2 outered me.
Once again, awesome tourney run by 888pl. Had a great time (well for most of it).

Most of us did M8, LOL
But you got the ring and the cash in your hand and that's GOLD!!!
Well done Aaron for being the first DT winner, well done M8.
I'm a bit like Des 90ish and disappointed in going out the way I did.

Re: Where you finish at the Grand Final & how did you lose?
I played good poker all day I thought. Was up to 30k during the 3rd blind level without showing down a hand, and having only actually hit one flop (draws excepted).
I then made a lay down which I'll post elsewhere, but things just didn't run my way after that. Ended the 1st session on 25k.
2nd session I went largely card dead, and given it was a limp/call type table, there were not many opportunities for a LP raise. Every hand I did get that was half playable was in very EP or UTG and when I did raise with JJ I got a caller then a shove. I folded naturally.
I finished the 2nd session around 23k.
Coming back from 2nd session, I got involved in the hand that really killed me. few limpers into my BB, I've got KJs. Flop of K88, turn T, river 8. I lead at flop and was flatted, turn was checked around, I lead at river and was shoved on. I tank folded, he rolled the 8. It left me only around 10k however.
Just had to find the right spot from here on in and it just never happened. Every time it was folded to me in LP I looked down at 4 or 5 high, suited Aces were all in EP - just not going my way.
I'm happy with the way I played - patient, good reads mostly and didn't risk anything untoward when I was unsure of my reads, used the structure to my advantage and most importantly I controlled the pots I played in. But in the end, the hand composition gods did not smile on me yesterday - Best hands of the day was JJ and AK twice.
Eventually I went out by pushing from the SB over the BB with J3s, got a tank call from the BB (was also short stacked) with J2, board ran out x2xxx
Congrats to 888PL - and incredible weekend I'm proud to have been a part of. I had been a little lacking in enthusiasm lately, but I'll be chasing a spot in the next GF now
edit: wow, dribble much. can you tell I should be studying?

I do believe so.

Re: Where you finish at the Grand Final & how did you lose?
What a fantastic weekend
this was always going to be a speciall weekend, a full weekend leave pass away from the family, to do nothing but play poker be that at the GF or elsewhere if luck didnt smile on me. and my 3 day weekend was exactly that 3 days, 3 blokes talking and playing nothing but poker for nearly 72 hours straight.
Friday Night was a blast, plenty of amber fluid followed by a few spirits and the weekend was off to a cracking start.
Was great to catch up with the usuals like Des,Scott,Rcon, Muzz, Benschke etc and also meet a few new faces like Brett Kay, Trishan and old man Swanky.
I had a good day saturday, ground out the day never doing much at any time, turns out i played against Shadz ( wish i knew at the time) and generally had a great day playing poker.
but ended day 1 at 58k, well below average but i was lucky enough to get a table draw for sunday that saw my stack nearly average for that table.
Sunday was the same i ground out the day never above average,
Interestingly looking back on my weekend i cant remember a showdown on the river i acually won, most of my weekend was spent raising and shoving and taking blinds and small raises or multiple limped pots. I think the best hand i had for the weekend was 2 pair if you dont count the trip aces i had beaten by a full house.
Ground my way into the money then actually started to pick up some momentum, but a table change and 2 bad races against Moreen Trudgy saw my stack smashed i ened up a respectable 16th for $1100
Thanks to all the players i played against over the weekend i had a great time, this was by far the highest quality tournament i had played in and that makes me proud to run deep in it.
Also to all the staff, well done on a simply sensational tourney, I couldnt have asked for better, but particulary Garth, Nathan, Brett, Dakota and Caleb you blokes did a great job, but above that you found time to enjoy the weekend by spending some of your valuble time with blokes like my self and that made the experience all the better.
Well done to all the forumers that attended and ran deep especially benny the cunt, Mackatack, Triahan and Scott
Also well done to my fellow riverlanders like Megatilt Matt and Mackatack for their deepruns, Chrissy Willo for his well earnt cash and of course Timmy B for a great 5th,
cheers and cant wait for the next one
