Anyone been there? any good?

i might be going to sydney for 3 days for work in october.

reading 2p2, it seems like they have a 10% rake capped at $10 (same as adelaide), which is massively high already, but then in addition they have an hourly time charge like 10 bucks an hour as well.

is this still the case? thats daylight robbery! might just take the lappy and connect up to the hotel internet and play online, it would be a lot cheaper.

Games on offer, 1/2 80-100 buy in, rake is 10% capped at 8, with a 5 time charge,
5/5 is the next one up flat buy in of 200 same rake. Above that is 5/5 200-500 not sure about the rake. Many higher stakes games on offer aswell.
Poker is dealt out of a single deck shoe in Sydney, can slow games down a fair bit. After playing in Sydney you will realise just how good adelaide has it in regards to poker in the casino.

wow why would they deal it out of a shoe? so they reshuffle every hand and then put it back in the shoe? its just silly

do they have automatic shufflers there?

Yes, they have automatic shufflers.

The reason given for using a shoe is the same as for blackjack - to minimise the likelihood of exposed cards, through cards flipping upon impact, and the "air time" of the cards.

The big sacrifice, of course - is speed.

Good dealers get super speedy, super low trajectory, perhaps they need to revisit their training.
:D
