Tournament Registration Timing Problem Solved

I have read a number of people mention issues of not being able to register for freeroll tournaments (and possibly buyins) because of not getting home before the tournament is full etc.

I have come up with a basic solution, utilizing a very handy windows utility called 'Auto HotKey'.
This is a compressed, executable form of the script, so there is no need to actually have Auto HotKey installed on your computer.

The only caveat is you need to have the tournament lobby window open to register for it (but it can be minimized).
Below is a screenshot of the extremely simple utility:

Usage is a snap: You simply start the 888 client, open the lobby of the tournament you wish to enter, tell the utility what time to register (ie soon after rego opens ;)), click 'OK' and it will automatically register you in that Tournament. Simple!
A confirmation screen will appear, just click 'OK' here to. You can cancel the registration before it happens by closing the utility.
Ergo, your home computer will need to be left running, waiting to register you for the tournament, as does this utility.

Selecting the 'Log me in & out' option, will also automatically complete the login window (must be set to remember your login details obviously) and then shutdown the 888 client after successful registration, otherwise the 888 client will be left running.
If you have NOT logged into your 888 account and do NOT have 'Log me in & out' selected it WILL NOT WORK! Also if you select this option you must NOT be logged into 888 already.

I have also tested this while my computer was NOT idle, I was using the mouse and keyboard, and it didnt seem to affect the successful registration.

The time format MUST be HH:MM am/pm and the am or pm is NOT case sensitive, but the hours and minutes MUST be separated by a colon. examples:
2:45 am
11:31 PM

I hope this can be of help to those who find it difficult to be home in time to register for their tournaments.

Edit:: Removed exe download. Please see p8 of this thread or new topic (v3) for download.

Please PM me if there are any problems. I do not foresee any, but I have only tried it on my own computer and never more than 15 minutes into the future, so I suggest you trial it on a tournament that you are still able to manually register for if anything does go wrong (I have successfully registered for over 20 different tounaments, some multiple times without any problems)

Contained in the archive is a single executable file. Just unzip to your desktop, run and Enjoy! :)

Good idea. I have similar thoughts as Des & Benschke, but I'm one who would unregister from a tourney if I can't play..

If 888 fix up the dead stack issue, by taking them out after a blind level or 2, then fine.

But I will prob give this a go.

I don't know of any site that removed dead stacks after a period of time.

neither do i.

the problem with the dead stacks is more because of the tourney structure - i.e no antes. this means that the dead stacks hang around a lot more.

it will actually make it harder to rego for tourneys if everyone used this

we all know there will be more dead stacks, and will everyone "pre-registering" means regular people wont be able to register

i might be wrong here, but most poker sites ban the use of any 3rd party software to operate their sites... i understand this isnt actually playing poker, but it could still violate terms and conditions
