Chip Values

Postby Matt Porter » Wed Jul 15, 2009 2:00 pm

Just as a reference guide for new players, I thought I'd list the following chip values

Green = 25
Black = 100
Purple = 500
Yellow = 1,000
Blue = 5,000

During breaks some chips are removed either by chipping up, or racing off.

ie. Foundation (Free) - 4 green chips = 1 black, also 1,2 or 3 left over is rounded up to 1 black chip.
Challenge (Cash) - odd chips are raced off, you may be chipped down for 1,2 or 3 green chips.

Sometimes stacks look a lot smaller after the break due to the smaller chips being removed, but the value is the same.

Also, 2 purples = 1 yellow, not 2.

well done matt

it constantly amazes me how people still get this wrong, especially when these people claim to be decent players.

i know of someone at a state finals claiming he got chipped down 40 grand LOL, and someone else that claims they got chipped down twice in one night, even though they were standing 20 metres away!

There's also red chips, which are generally only used in big events, worth 25k.

If I have been pocketing 4 green chips for every game I have played for the past 3 or so years, am I able to use them on a final table or do I have to get them coloured up??

At final table green chips are swapped for an indefinite suspension.

You also need to make a final table first.

i had one last night were this dude bailed me up and told me that his stack had 14k less than it should have ( this was right before the final table).
I told him that i find this size mistake very hard to belive but if he was sure he should go chat to the TD about it. The final table started a minute later, he drew the card right next to the dealer, sat down then didnt say a word for the whole final table.

Very wierd.
Does anyone know how to make money playing uno vs 6 year olds, its about the only card game i get to play these days.

Ah yes, this is an obvious hurdle I had over looked......
I may have to rethink this whole thing......
