New, Expanded 888PL Official Rules

The new expanded rules are great, as (imho) they were a bit 'thin' before, and there are a lot of inclusions that weren't mentioned before.
One rule though seems (to me) a tad bit strange.
Under 'General Tournament Rules, subsection v) The Showdown' is:
5. Any player who has been dealt in may request to see any hand that was eligible to participate in the showdown, even if the opponent’s hand or the winning hand has been mucked. However, this is a privilege that may be revoked if abused. If a player other than the pot winner asks to see a hand that has been folded, that hand is dead. If the winning player asks to see a losing player’s hand, both hands are live, and the best hand wins.
Is I read this, it means you cant muck your hand (at showdown), if any player requests to see it.
Is this the spirit of the rule, or am I misinterpretting it?
And what would constitute abuse of this rule (privilege)?
I always refuse to show my cards at showdown, even if I have the nuts, if I bet first and am called, I insist the caller(s) show me first, then I show. Infact, I dont understand players who don't do this (especially in buyin events). But this rules seems to say that if a caller beats me, and I opt not to show my cards, another player can ask to see my cards?
