Late registration for tourneys

Postby Conspiracy Theorist » Tue May 26, 2009 2:42 pm

I start by saying that I dont like it. Online or live.

If your not there when the tourney starts then you shouldnt be able to play. Simple as that.

Sometimes I'll register into a stars guaranteed tourney because of a huge overlay, with 2 minutes to go. The tourney will start with the overlay, but late reg eats it up.

What do you think?

CT

ps Anyone know how long stars late reg goes for?

Yeah I don't like late reg either.

Not sure on how long stars runs it for.
Pardon me, but I think you'll find that's a shovel. See you next Tuesday!

late rego usually goes for the first blind level i think

i dont mind it - nothing worse than going to rego in a tourney only to find that its been running for 1 min.

also, there are lots and lots of people that would rego only because they need to play poker NOW and not in 5 minutes time. these people usually can't stay for 5 hours to play the tourney, so they are likely to bust out quickly anyway. so they are definitely +EV for you

i agree with the overlay thing though, that would be annoying.

you just have to assume that stars pretty much never has an overlay.

I say, you should been there a minute ago. You cant bet on a horse race 1 min after it started.

I see a point based on pure speculation. It could go either way.

please take no offence, but to know that, you would have to keep track of every player registered in a tourney, when they registered when they busted over a large sample of tourneys. Im sorry. Its speculation.

Perhaps there is an edge in starting a tourney late.

And why would someone register for a tourney they couldnt play?

It is a known factor - bit like those not too thoughtful creatures I have very nasty things to say about when I have my AK called by K2 and I'm out on the bubble - sure, something is said, but it aint like its the first time its happened, and if I don't like it that much, I won't put myself in a position where it can happen.

Long story short, you know late rego happens, so perhaps wait until 2 min before late reg closes (it will be on their website somewhere) before joining a tournament *just* for the overlay.
