$5.50 $20 000 guarantee

Ran 3rd/4100 in a $5.50 20k guarantee on Stars this morning. Started the tournament at about 2am and didn't finish until 11:30.
Started out pretty average, just grinding out a stack and was up to about 10k when some idiot Frenchman raised with KK. I re-raised with QQ, and he min-reraises me again. I call. Flop is A 6 Q. I shove, he calls and I double up to about 20k. This was particularly satisfying because he was a total assclown who thought he was better than everyone else. The tirade we were treated to afterward was amusing. I felt the need to remind him that just because he had the best hand pre-flop doesn't automatically make it the best hand after the flop, and snap calling with an A on the board was a bad move on his part anyway.
Continued to slowly build the stack but was falling back below the average when I hit KK and the flop came K44. Other guy had a 4 and obviously lost a lot of money. Another big win shortly after put me at about 150k. Picked up 8 6 suited in the BB. I had an open ended flush draw on the flop which hit on the turn when the Qc fell. He shoves for about 200k. Sorry buddy, the time to do that was before I made my hand...
By about 8:30am I was sitting well inside the top 50 although this still only paid about $33 as only the final eight placings stood to make any real money (top 600 paid). Stack was about 500k when I made my first serious misstep with pocket 2s. Made a button raise without realising that UTG had called as well, and he subsequently called my raise. He hit his 10, which was unfortunate because I tried to buy it and ended up putting him all-in. Poor judgement on my part, although by this stage I was pretty tired. Down to 200k, and seriously shortstacked, but a couple of lucky double-ups put me back on track (including one wonderful hand where my pocket 5s made quads on the river) and I was 2nd when we hit the final table.
3rd place was a great result and paid over $1200 US.
