Show cards immediately or not when all in blind ??

Postby BigPete33 » Tue Dec 11, 2007 5:05 pm

Some like it, some don't, but should a player be allowed to leave their cards hidden until the last moment when allin blind?

Garth wants to know!

Poll will run until the end of December.
Pardon me, but I think you'll find that's a shovel. See you next Tuesday!

Sometimes I look, sometimes I don't. Personally, I think it should be up to the player if they want to flip them immediately or wait - they're eventually going to be turned over, anyway. We shouldn't "have" to turn them over.

For public games, I say no. It creates more excitement for spectators!
Home games would be different though. You'd just decide at the time.

Now that I've remembered about this poll, we can see the results show the majority of voters in favour of not showing your cards immediately when all-in blind.

Garth, best whack that in the rules (if it's not already) :)

well correct me if im wrong but if your playing at the Palais and Alex is the TD you have no choice in the matter you have to turn them over....but im all for the all in blind, as everyone has stated it just adds a bit more excitment to the game, considering it is social poker...

It is up to the the TD... but tournament rules state cards should be shown, so Alex is correct. He' s just following official tournament rules.

i think that if u have looked at them, then u should have to roll them over. but if u are not even posting a full BB for instance, and u dont look at them, then playing blind just adds a little bit of suspense to it all.

I personal always look at my cards and flip them but don’t care if an all in blind doesn’t.
What gets my goat up and should be made clear to all TD's is when BB or SB goes in blind to call a player who is all in on a short stack (probably not even enough to cover the BB) and says he doesn’t have to show his hand leaving the all in (who has shown his cards) waiting till the end to see if he wins.
Seen this twice and both time's they had a huge stack, but I was dealer for 1 off them and basically insisted they turn them over which they did.

BTW anyone ever seen a dead card dealt at npl e.g. joker, 2 identical cards what ever?
I haven’t so it shouldn’t be an issue but if you haven’t looked at your cards and you get dealt one that’s just too bad and you don’t get a redeal or misdeal.
Just food for thought.
