Can anybody answer this stupid question that has been buging me
my wife only plays play money games.
I play 2 sites regularly 1 i cant mention and stars.
Why is it that stars charge a house fee or rake on play money games
for example 250 play money 18 runner sng will cost
250 + 25
why do they need to recoup playmoney, shurley they just make more when they need it.
as i said a stupid question but one that i cant answer.
the only theory i have is too get the player used to the house charge so when they graduate to real money it is seen as normal.
an interesting question

There's a reason why it should be different?

Pete: Why charge rake on fake money? You gain nothing. Its not like PokerStars NEEDS play money - they can just create some more. I think Krunch is onto something with it being used to prepare players for real money tournaments.

Re: an interesting question
Way to miss the point
I can see reasons for them including a rake in play money, but not reasons for them not doing it, other than 'it's play money'.
Plenty of new players seem to start out with play money first (good idea too) so why wouldn't they want to keep things consistent?
Bob, the day you actually are correct I'll stop telling you that you're wrong mate.

Re: an interesting question
well then i guess the question is
why does the site we cant talk about not charge a rake then
if its a 2000 play money tourney then thats all you pay.

Re: an interesting question
Poker Stars has a policy of maximum turn around from play money to actual first time depositors.
To achieve this they prepare all their play money participants by charging a rake and actually instructing them on bank roll management and preparing them for rake and what not.
The other companies just do not adhere to this procedure simple because they do not feel it is warranted.
