You're a Bunch of Factors

hey guys, i think i need help, i need help to become a better player heads up. have found that i play alot different heads up online to as i do heads up at a venue. and i'll admit i dont really rate myself as a heads up player.

im not just saying this because i have 1 win to my 6-7 seconds. i just realise i don't really show enough balls with weak hands and im easy to bluff out.

any tips guys, help me become a better heads up players. cheers

well as a starting point, you obviously have to open up your hand range when heads up.

im sure garth and brett would have some great tips

actually if you search around i think there was a topic about this same thing previously

The way I approach heads up play is to not come second. I find it a much better ploy to win.

Or, you might want to read up on the SAGE system. Lots of articles online, this is just one of many.

If you're not prepared to raise preflop, don't limp in, just fold. That's my advice.

When you watch WPT on TV, do you ever see a hand checked down preflop? The answer is no. There is always a raise.

have massive stacks behind them. Not very often you get that in NPL, even heads up. You need to be more selective in NPL


Having said that however, my advice is, if you chose to play a hand heads up, make sure you raise. Make them pay to play and define their hand. Just make sure you respect their betting when an over card falls if they've called your large raise. I wouldn't make that mistake note to self: wanting them not to have an ace DOES NOT WORK

Cheers Scott - I must admit, I probably would have ignored it otherwise. It is frustrating reading about all these fantastic strategies and not being able to use them due to being short stacked.
