I'm just speaking of the rules that are enforced at the Casino, so Im not sure about 888pl.
But in the case where he throws his cards face up, I will tell him to announce his intentions before exposing his hand. In a tournament not doing so constitutes a hand penalty.
Contrary to popular belief, throwing cards face up into the middle does not constitute a fold, their hand is still live, until they announce fold or throw their cards both face down or either card hits the muck face down. I am a firm believer that under no circumstance, cards are to be removed from the muck.
I am only speaking on behalf of myself, and the rules that I enforce.
Another rule clarification, please...

Really?
I was under the impression as soon as card touch the muck, face up or down, they are mucked.

I've heard the poker pit boss say exactly that.
If it touches the muck, it's mucked and nobody is going in to get it.
Having said that, I'm not aware of what differences they might employ for a cash game vs a tournament.
Pardon me, but I think you'll find that's a shovel. See you next Tuesday!

it the light of the previous posts a person exposing their hand on the river and then verbalizing their intentions to act. [If this exposure is not considered a muck.] and play in the hand continues... is the hand still in play/ legal.??
my point -- if exposing your cards while in play doesnt constiute a muck . could a case be made for a player exposing their cards / a card , intentionally or accidently , say after the flop and then continue playing the entire hand till its fruition ????

In reference to the rules cash versus tournaments, 99% of the rules are the same.
Players are also not allowed to throw cards into the muck.
In referene to Bruce's question,
Yes their hand is still live, everyone gets the same information therefor not disadvantaging anyone. If a player deliberately shows a card during a tournament it constitutes a hand penalty.it the light of the previous posts a person exposing their hand on the river and then verbalizing their intentions to act. Re: Another rule clarification, please...
Anyone is welcome to throw in there opinions but what i am looking for is a ruling from a current 888pl td.
What is the penalty/warning/process when while in an active hand a spectator is verbaly coaching a player in a hand.
We had a situation tonight where 1 player ( no longer in the comp) sitting next to ( slightly behind) an active player was encoraging said player to bet into a pot, even included actuall amounts to bet.
I am just interested in what our TC's out there would do in this situation to the player involved and the person lending the advice.
cheers

Depends. If they're new players and genuinely had no idea, if I was TC I would give them both a warning. If they know any better, I would remove the player giving advice from the area, and sit the player receiving advice out for a blind level. That one kinda depends though, on whether he was accepting the advice willingly or sitting there sheepishly. Would have to ask the table on that one.
