The look on the face of this kids when he showed the bluff was priceless .... The best bit about the bluff though was this guy realised he was outta his depth

He was out a few hands later couldn't handle the bluff !!!!

Ill get it started again.

I first found poker on the tv back in the moneymaker year, and at the time i was a professional gamer playing counter strike here, melb and sydney but it was becoming stagnant and i wanted another hoobby.I started working at toys r us in the city and we had just gotten tabletops and chipsets in so i bought them both and found poker. It was then i would take the chips to school and during lunch time i would teach my mates how to play from what i learnt on the TV. It was around this time that my love for poker was growing so rapidly i did everything i could to learn more about the game and went on the web and found two plus two. It was here, along with pokerstars freemoney that i started to play and post alot on 2+2, and read every forum and watch every video imaginable.

At about 16 i had read almost everybook known both ebooks and ones i had bought at dymocks rundle mall who actually have a pretty good selection, also borders. My first two books i vividly remember where theory of poker and harrington on hold em 1. I was still playing with friends and we started playing for lunch money and small stakes and it was me that always schooled them so when i was 17 i got money off my mums credit card and put it on stars. I would rollercoaster like anything and would be up and down everytime but i still loved it. I loved every aspect of the game even losing.

I was striving, although i hadnt found my niche I played everything and anything and it was when i won $700 for coming 4th in a 11$ my eagerness for the game continued. I played at home still too young for the casino. Not long after my fourth i was busto and was talking to a friend about how it happened and he offered me his details and a small amount of money so i could keep playing as he went oversees to china for a school trip.

Im 17 at the time, 12-1 in the afternoon I loaded up my lobby and played a 30+3 tourney with 1000+ entrants and by 9-10 i was HU going for the US 9850 first prize. Sure enough i had won and it felt fantastic. I looked in my account and i saw the money but i never took it in as real cash and thats where i often struggled online and it just seemed like play chips to me. I still was pretty bad at this point and for some reason i decided to play cash game and bought in for my whole stack on a $100/200 table, and within only a few hours i distincly remember my KK vs his AA all in pre. I flop a set sweet! turn is an A i lose 14,000 dollar pot and a bit after that im broke. I still dont see this as a pivotel point in my playing career as i still saw it as only play chips and my attachment to the coloured chips did not exist. Nevertheless i was once again broke again.

Fast forward to me turning 18 the worst day of my life. If you have ever met me you will know im not afraid to gamble and i have lost alot of money at the casino and the allure of the table games often got to me even after i had won money at the 4/8 limit table where i first started playing. Early on i quickly progressed to 2/3 and was still making money on the tables but losing it to roulette baccarat and blackjack. I distinctly remember one weekend when myself and two friends walked in to the casino one friday and didnt leave till the sunday, $1000 each in our hands to start with. By saturday afternoon thanks to baccarat we had luckboxed that to a huge $60,000 and we were pretty buzzing at the time, living it up on red bull no doz and maccas on hindley, by sunday we were broke. This experience hit me hard and it was a huge blow for all of us, however, we still remain friends to this day and often look back and think about that weekend.

It was at this time when i realised the lure of the casino was getting to me and i decided to start playing online again (and yes got back into CS and WoW also, and to this day have level 80's collecting dust!) around about the same time i began working for ikea, i quickly got out of this job and was doing extremely well shortstacking $3/6 cash game two tables at a time, and eventually i was withdrawing weekly and living it up with all my winnings. I did this for quite some time then found my dream job with the NPL. What a fantastic job, doing something i love is amazing and i still love it to this day. Eventually my online rolled died but i continued to play and make money at the casino and deposit/lose, deposit/win/withdraw online and i didnt mind. It was also around this time i lost more money on the tables than i had before and i knew i needed to pull my head in. I play very little table games at this time and im proud of myself for trying to purely stick to poker. Since i have turned 18 i have played many tournaments both of which in Adelaide and Melbourne and am yet to get my big break but i know with time and patience it will come. My passion is still there and allthough i run so bad and i truely do, i understand this is varience and that with positive thinking and reinforcement things can change.

Just recently i played 10-20 at Adelaide Casino a game they try to get up once a month. I have $2000 in front and pick up 7d9d in the SB and UTG makes it 70 with 4 callers in front i call. Flop comes 8d 10d Jh bingo bango nutso. I check UTG bets 185, with two callers, i pop to 550 and both UTG and the button make the call. The turn is a 4c, and i shove all in with UTG tanking and calling, button folds. Adam Peck was his name a pro good friends with the likes of David Ewing and Michael Marvanek who all make a living playing in Macau, he rolls JJ sure enough river 8c. I run so bad lol but it was an important expereince in turning my negative thinking around and within weeks ive noticed a huge difference and am picking up +1k every time i play 5/5 at the casino.

Well thats enough for now, long enough but theres plenty more stories if you wana here. In closing i love every aspect of poker and will never cease to find enjoyment in the game and look to furthering my career in the very near future with hopefully some breakthrough wins which im sure with hard work and dedication are just around the corner
Yes you can touch my hair

OK, i posted a small reply previously in this thread, but im in the mood for a long winded answer, so here goes.

Along with Ben, we discovered poker on SBS late night TV show called 'Late night Poker'. We began playing as soon as we had a basic understanding of the rules with a dog-eared pack of queens slipper cards that mum had shuffled a thousand times playing solitaire (shes not one for computers) and a connect-4 set that we used for chips. Being a twin, anything that we decided to play against each other got really competitive, really quickly, so i guess this fuelled both of us to start learning more about the game.

Started playing online at pokerroom, mostly play money, but eventually small stakes SNG games for real cash. I remember the first ever poker night me and benny the cunt had, when he went to the bank and cashed $40 into 20c coins, as we didnt own a chipset as yet. We played 20c/40c limit that night, but i was hooked on the social-ness that is poker.

When NPL started up i went and started playing at a small pub called the old spot in gawler. Here i experienced some good success, as myself and ben had a decent head start over a lot of our competition (even though we were still really raw ourselves). My first TD was dakota, who kept me coming back each week, and Shannon after that did the same.

I would love to try and get down to the casino more often, but that last few times down there i have found the 2/3NL to be a profitable place to be :D

In the first 3 seasons of NPL i made the state finals each time, making a couple of deep runs in big tourneys. One was when I bubbled the final table in the first Aussie Millions satellite, and the other was a 17th place finish in the Seaford state finals. At Seaford was the one hand that would change my poker career. At this time, to be honest, I thought I was pretty good. I was smashing my venue, getting to all state finals and here I was at the seaford event, chip leader of the state final with 21 people left (almost double the next highest stack)
Anyway I pick up QQ and the button. A handy player raised for almost half his stack (100k) from mid pos, and I shoved my 220k from the button. He tank/called and flipped 88. Long story short was that the window card was an 8 and I lost a big pot, but where I really let myself down was afterward. I imploded, spewed of chips to everyone and ended up going out 17th. I was so angry with myself, and I was put back in my box – realising that I had a LOT to learn about many aspects of the game – handling beats being one of them. This was the impetus for me to start doing a little reading about poker, which the forum became a part of.

I started looking at some different internet poker sites, and currently have very small bankrolls on tilt, stars and pacific. I have to say that I am pretty terrible at online poker, and am little more than a break even player who lacks a LOT of discipline. Ill have a good run, then tilt it all back, and its still something I know I need to work on. Recently I decided to play less MTT and SNG games, and concentrate only on 6-max cashies, with some small amounts of success (at 5c/10c mind you).

Not long after the third season of NPL I moved to Waikerie to start my career as a teacher, and began playing at the Waikerie club where I have met some really top-notch people. At first I didn’t know anybody, but after a while began talking to an older balding bloke named krunchie. Both of us shared an interest in looking at the theoretical side of poker and we began talking about strategy, different ways of playing hands etc. Personally, krunchie, who had become a good mate, has been one of the biggest helps to my game. Not just for the money he donates when we play heads up HORSE, but for the fact that I always have a sounding board for any hand that I play.
This amount of discussion regarding all aspects of poker, on this forum, and with Ben and Krunchie (and later people like Aaron as well) has really helped my game, to the point where I believe I am a good live player, especially in deeperstack events.
I have reached somewhat of a plateau in my poker career however. 888pl, although exciting with its new branding, has become a little stale for me, and I attend my regular game more for the social side than the poker. Similarly, I find it too hard to be disciplined at small stakes online games, so I don’t really know where to go from here.
I would love to start playing some buy-in live events in Adelaide or other places, but don’t really know where to start off. I am also sick of grinding my $80 on small stakes cashies and would like to significantly increase my bankroll to try and go up a level or two online, however im unsure whether committing 1k or more online will be successful or fraught with danger. Will the newer challenges of higher stakes give me the extra challenge I have needed, or simply point out my many weaknesses and show me that im not good enough. Time will tell I guess.
