that annoys me a bit too - people who wait for the other person to turn their cards over, when it is in fact their turn to do it.

especially when a pot has been checked down, and they both sit there like idiots waiting for each other to turn their cards over.

i just tell people roll your cards now, especially to the out of position person who has to roll first

Someone in the Main Event had been called and only turned one over.

Gave them a fairly prompt "I don't think so, flip em over"

People watch too much tv.
Pardon me, but I think you'll find that's a shovel. See you next Tuesday!

I actually thought he had a straight or flush seeing he kept calling and I was gonna muck my cards when he turned his over. I sat there staring at the cards for a second or two thinking he'd hit but I couldn't see for the life of me what!!!

I turned my Jacks and said good hand as I thought he'd won and he stood up and said good game Bob. I was actually stunned and realise he never hit anything other than pairing his nines.

The young lass (sorry her name is a blank at the moment) with dark hair and glasses said, it's not nice to slow roll Bob. I said I didn't do it intentionally as I was going to muck my cards. I said really thought I was done for and didn't want to give the table any more info on how or what I was playing.

So, I guess she was right in thinking I was slow rolling so in future I'll try and remember to just turn em and weep or better still rake the chips.

Bob, this is probably the issue. He called you, so you should've showed your cards before he did.

Yeah I realised that M8, my bad.

Like I said, I was about to throw them in the muck when he turned his over as I thought he'd hit the flush or straight. And as silly as it sounds I wasn't slow rolling intentionally I was actually trying to see what he had before I mucked mine.

Obviously had I mucked and he asked to see what I had I realise I was obligated to show them to him. The problem was I couldn't see the forrest from the trees and was a little dumb founded so to speak.

Yeah I hate it too benny the cunt. My error and I accepted that at the time.

i know you weren't doing it intentionally bob, not having a go or anything

but some people are almost embarrased to be at a showdown sometimes.

these are usually bad players who have no idea whether their hand is actually any good

That's the thing Bob, if you had of chucked them in the muck (unintentionally) it's WORSE to go in and get them because he had to actually ask to see them. Once they touch that muck pile NOBODY should be touching them again unless it's to sweep them up for the next person to deal.

Pretty much all you can do then is apologise profusely and tell him what you had and hope he believes you.

Of course, then it looks like you're angle shooting - which is just as bad, if not worse! (you see how you can't win here?)

Certainly not having a go at you here Bob, but it's a good example of why the rule is how it is.

If you have been called, flip your cards - it just doesn't matter what hand you think you have (or don't have), you simply have to do it.
