I was just trying to clarify the feelings and thoughts, so you would understand our point of view. we knew nothing of why or even that it was happening, so it was a bit of a shock. I did not mean to harp, and I would also enjoy having the challenge ....
and no, I haven't cashed in a state final. my best result was I think 2 outside the money, thanks to the support and encouragement of a great t.d., he knows who he is ... but I was happy with that and proud of my efforts and the way I played. If I can get that far, knowing that I made one really bad decision, and only ONE .. then I am happy. that doesnt say they were all RIGHT decisions, but there was one really bad one..lol..
and I welcome a little bit of state vs state rivalry, we have region vs region rivalry here in metro west vs geelong .. lol ... it is healthy competition.
I think you need to read my posts without putting any attitude into them, cos there is definately no attitutude in what I have written, I have re-read it 3 times, so please remove the attitude from it and read it again.
Garth, it was on printed matter, which was handed to us, I may even have a copy somewhere, however, it is history, can't be changed, so we should move on and learn from the past to make a better future.

I understand that Rosmeary, but you raised the issue and I was clarifying a few facts that were not communicated to Victorian players. To "learn from our past" I need to understand what went wrong and where, if anything did go wrong.

Re: State versus State ?
Queen9 At the Vic champs there was a number of Tassie players too why are you focussing only on SA?
Also the Tassie players had to pay for their shirts.
And they all gained their seats fairly.
If I wanted to grumble about it I could say I may have made the money on that day if the extra players weren’t there.
But I think that sounds ridiculous as who know how a tournament will play out with fewer players.
I have seen big tournaments loss players super fast and small tournaments last late into the night.

Re: State versus State ?
A yearly trip to VIC to mess around and play poker? I'd be in. As cheap as airfares are, surely we could get 40 interested souls for a long weekend away.
Will dance for your chips!

Could well be one of those yearly event things that we love so much.
There's nothing quite like a friendly rivalry.

Pardon me, but I think you'll find that's a shovel. See you next Tuesday!

Re: State versus State ?
firstly, I am not picking on anyone state or having a go at them. I am trying to point out that this event was advertised as NPL's Victorian event, for Victorian players ... due to the efforts of previous NPL advertising and/or marketing - and by golly, I am going through my storage unit cos I think I have one of those brochures to show them....
so my point was and still is, that the prizemoney for that final was derived from money that NPL had set aside out of the income they had derived from the profits made from victorian venues during the year.
In other words, you and I both contributed to that prize fund. If you take a ticket in race 7 for horse number 8 to win, you can't claim a prize in race 8 if number 8 wins that race, cos that's not the prize pool your money was in.
And you have reminded me that Tasmanians were represented as well, I had forgotten that, but there are also mostly s.a.'s in here anyway, so I was making the comparison there.
However, if you read all my posts, you would see that I included everyone (pretty much) to play in a state vs state (or similar ) event as that would have nothing to do with our state final.
and if anyone wants to come play in an event whereby Garth provides the prizemoney out of his own pocket (as he mentioned in a previous post), then I am not the one you have to argue with, go for it ... but I would add that I don't think Garth should have to do this. In fact, I would play for a trophy that says we won a state vs state event, no money or cash prize whatsoever.
(you see, prizemoney is NOT everything, but once you offer it, and then take it away, that makes for a sour note.)
So to all you south aussies, tasmanians, where ever ... come on over and play .. we would love to have you here and I do love the friendly rivalry
