This thread saddens me.
I want to say so much but shall restrain myself.

Why does it sadden you?
Im sure everyone would like to hear you feedback on this discussion.
Why even post anything then if this thread is below your intellectual greatness?

Re: railing the SoO
It's a Bruce thread Garth, need we say any more.
But for some reason he keeps making final tables, state finals, semi finals etc, so I guess he'll keep folding till the cows come home.
He's also had a few all expenses paid Sydney trips at another providers expense too.
So I guess in the long run Bruce is happy doing what he does. He does'nt annalise every play to get himself to the point that he loses the enjoyment of just playing pub poker and that's okay with me.

It saddens me because it was a rail thread, then a hand discussion thread, then a flame war and then a strat discussion thread. The poor little tucker doesn't know what it wants to be! But it's fun watching it grow up and find it's own way!

Re: railing the SoO
And, this is like drinking lemon juice through my tear duct, I agree with Bob on this one. Bruce has his own style, it works well for him and he has satisfied with it.
We have all known Bruce for over 2 years now and although it is probably the most annoying and grating playing style for me personally you do have to acknowledge that he gets his enjoyment from it and does make finals very regularly.
I have also learnt that no matter how much you say or try to help/educate Bruce it won't make a lick of difference as the man is set in his ways.
Personally if I saw any of my players that I coach or stake fold KK in that situation I would cut them out of my life pretty quickly. And if I hear anyone say he made the right fold, look at what came out, then those to deserve a variance fairy bashing. The question is did he make the right fold at the time, the answer is no. He had the best hand and had a chance to triple up and he did not exploit his edge in that hand.
Finally - gut instinct - pfffffftttttt! Your instincts are the culmination of your expereinces, learnings and skills translated into a subconcious thought/response when faced with a predicament or scenario of normally high stress.
As a poker player, and a good one, you actually train yourself to supress all subconcious activity, you create a poker face that we try to hide behind and not give any emotions away and you attempt to read opponents by identifying patterns in behaviour and actions. We also try to remove as much emotion from the game as possible.
Poker is a science and it is an analytical game, I am an instinctual player as well. I trust and rely on my instincts but I ALWAYS back up my instincts with hard facts be it pyshcological or mathematical.

Re: railing the SoO
good post bobby.
we may try to tell bruce that he played a hand wrong or whatever, but the main point is, if bruce is happy playing the way he plays, then good luck to him. personally, this thread tilted my up the wall last night, but meh.
but anyway, this thread turned into some decent discussion in the end. well done jmack
