Excellent post, Brett. You need to post more often. How is WA, and the new hotel job going, by the way?

with A2 suited you wanna fold

There, fixed that for you ;)

Brilliant though! Hilarious stuff, only Tony G could get away with that. If anyone tried it in a pub, they'd have their arse handed to them and rightly so.

A2 suited is a lot better than A6suited.

A2 suited is a lot better than A9 offsuit.

Why?

Straights and flushes.

A2suited can make the straight and can make a flush
A6 suited is only for a flush.
A9 offsuit can only make pairs.

Some poker texts actually say that when shortstacked rather than playing your AK, AQ, AJ to play the A2, A3, A4, A5 for this reason

Think of what you are going to get called down with. Most times any two cards over ten. You are giving yourself a shot with a high card and a low card. Plus if they call you without an ace. you also have the ace to trump both their high cards.

Don't be results orientated, be smart and objective.

I know that, but for me it's still a very hard hand to play. Maybe if no-one else is showing much interest and I have position it might be worth the gamble for the reasons you mentioned.

Position helps, limping in helps, table lay out helps.

As the table goes from full 9/8 players, down to Short 5/6 to super short 3/4 to heads up 2

Your hand selection should open up. Sometimes you just end up playing your cards against his cards and see what happens. Especially in relation to stack sizes.

Remember the good ole M value. Means using that with the amount of people on the table should tell you what you should be doing. m<30 is healthy, play normal, 20<m<30 means your still ok, but one blind level more puts you into red. 10<m<20 means you are in the red zone, things are looking hairy. M<10 means now you are looking for that double up because the blinds will eat you up too quickly. Unless there are heaps of people left.

Hence heads up with less that 5 blinds between us, i am pushing nearly almost everyhand with a 9 or greater. i am a luckbox.
