Re: NPL coming to adelaide
I know Craig Ivey from back in the days when I used to play the other "evil" comp and he is one of lifes' true gentlemen.
I've played a few APL games with both Craig and his wife Cathy. They have been most helpful and inviting at the games. And to have that much dedication to play that many games I say good on them.

Re: NPL coming to adelaide
The other problem with the APL system is that points are not based on number of runners. So you get the same amount of points for finishing 1st at a venue of 9 people, as you would for a venue of 200 people...Personally I like the 888 system..
As far as a comp between the leagues goes, would be interesting to match the 888 up against APL, the NPL is still an unknown of course as I don't know who is playing in that comp, but really wouldn't bother with the others. If you've ever played some of those others, you'd know what I mean.....

Stupid game..... Never playing again

At no point was I talking bad about Craig. I've known him for even longer than you guys, trust me on that. Him and Cathy are extremely nice people.
Just the stories that surrounded about the A.P.L staff at his events giving him points for first even when he actually didn't even make final table.... well, it sort of dilutes his achievement, don't you think?
(BTW, these are not just rumours, I have asked an A.P.L. staff member about these allegations. It was extremely helpful for A.P.L. in this state to have a player so highly ranked nationally)

Re: NPL coming to adelaide
just to correct something, Ivey won a trip to wsop for the player of the year title, he actually cashed for 30 odd k. The late night poker thing had nothing to do with APL. It was in fact an online freeroll he won.

Craig Ivey is out to make a name for himself
Craig Ivey might not be as famous as Phil, but give him a chance. After all, he just started playing the game after retiring in 2007. The 49-year-old retiree is a native of Adelaide, South Australia. He won an online freeroll tournament and consequently didn’t have to spend a dime for his trip to Las Vegas and his seat on Poker After Dark. And although he’s relatively new to the game, this isn’t the first time he’s sat next to the biggest names in poker. In 2009, he finished deep in the WSOP Main Event, cashing for $33,000. When he’s not sitting at an online or live table, Ivey likes to spend his time at horse races and collecting antiques.

.
Just to correct you dolls, watch the directors cut of late night of poker for the week he plays.
Helmuth walks up to the guy and says, are you one of the online qualifiers and he says, actually no.
Then he goes on to explain that he won the seat at the table for winning APL Player of the year.
Sounds like there is 2 lots of information out there, but me i will belive what the bloke says to camera, not what is written, but thats just me.
Does anyone know how to make money playing uno vs 6 year olds, its about the only card game i get to play these days.

Re: NPL coming to adelaide
was just looking at the NPL webite, and saw that every 6 months they have a 500k tourney
the payout structure is pretty top heavy but the winner gets 225k + a car + WSOP ME entry, + Aussie millions ME entry
i have to say, that is pretty awesome
they also say no cash deals, but its 4.5k for 9th and 225k for first. huge difference, im sure there would be deals done
