and hence we hit the seriousness of what i was asking

I pretty much know the basics boys, even though im not a regular ring game player.

I guess when you get down to it i was asking, when is it time to run from a game, when you double your buy in etc etc

i guess this example gave me an interesting way of posing the question because i doubled first hand, but in reality i was asking a more basic question

basically it never depends on stack size for me. unless you get so big that people dont wanna sit on your table, i.e u have 100 on a 10NL table

Ok, well if this is your question, then we need a different answer. Basically it comes to how comfortable you feel on the table - about your game and the opponents you are facing. If you are certain in the fact that you are the best player at the table and can easily take their money... then stay there. If, however, you're feeling a bit underwhelmed, then take solace in the fact that you've won some money... and move on.

Generally I don't think there is a "rule" on when to leave a table... usually its when the fish have dried up. Why leave when you can easily keep winning money from bad players, ya know? Its that sort of thing. End of the day though, you should only be playing when you feel you can play at 100%. Whether you're up 3 buyins or down 1.

If i look back over all the NL session I've had, the most profitable move by far would have been to quit at BI + 50%. Doesn't matter if that is buying in short, half or full, I should always quit at BI+50%. Doesn't mean I do tho!

I find I can rarely maintain discipline at a ring game for long enough to punish with a big stack.

Could also be a problem that I play waaaayyyy out of where I should be playing ;-)
