How did you go at states ?

All you have to do is stop looking at your stack as how many big blinds you have, and more how many big blinds and antes you have!

i dont like people saying the Ante's were killing us
its the same for everybody, u win a hand u clean up the tables antes and that gives u a few rounds of free antes

For the record I am a big fan and firm believer in the antes, I only played one state final without them and the rest I have played with them and I liked the ones with the antes more.

That does not stop me saying that putting in an ante of ? (can't remember the amount now) was causing my stack to dwindle down, especially if I am someone that plays a tight game. It also forces me to evaluate the way I play.

However thanks for pointing out the bleeding obvious in regards to everyone paying the antes, I never noticed.

I was only thinking to myself a couple of days ago when I used the blue text as to how quiet and peaceful it was on the forum and then I realised ...... there's no JJ where is she???

I always think about my stack in terms of CSI (chip status index).

CSI = stack / CPR (cost per round: BB + SB + (antes x players at table))

Anything less than 3 and you have NO fold equity, but you are really shortstacked.

CSI of 3-7 and you sre shortstacked, but you have some fold equity, but this is pretty much push/fold mode. You cant really afford to play a hand and lose.

CSI of 7-14. medium stacked, but should be looking to pick up some blinds or orpahned pots to build stack further.

CSI bigger than 14, your ok, play normal.

I took a break because I found myself getting all worked up over asinine comments being made at times (by both myself and others), isn't that always the best time to take a time out? and as you know Bob, we can all have differing points of view which I always love.

Me too JJ. I thought the reasons for your absence would have been for something like that. Yeah, it can get a little over the top on here at times and I too thought of doing the same thing -a number of times.

But then I thought about it and realised my opinions and thought on here have a right to be heard too. And to be honest I enjoy the banter and the variety of topics that we have here on the forum.

So, I guess you and I are a little like Don Chipp a past Democrat leader who said "he was there to keep the bastards honest" I believe being true to yourself and honest with your friends and foes is all that really matters in this world of ours don't you think JJ??
