Firstly this is post has no malice intended, what occured is possibily a 100o to 1 shot of happening again.
Sunday at Renny Footy Club final table down to last 3.
Player 1 off duty TD and Chip leader
Player 2 All In
Player 3 all in short stack.
After its all done and dusted player 1 wins the hand taking out the other 2, player 2 is declared the winner because of the bigger chip count. which is correct according to standard rules. the TD even consulted Toddy who was not playing.
However after the event I considered what had occured, the off duty TD but won the hand, defeating both players in the process player 3 although short stack actually had a better hand than player 2, technically player 3 came 2nd in the hand and possibily in theory claim the win.
What do you think (No I was not Player 2 or 3) just wondering.

Re: Your opinion
There's only one winner in that hand, and two losers.
It would only matter if there was a side pot between 2 and 3 which there wasn't so their cards mean nothing.
BOTH players lost to player 1. Player 1 takes the pot, and of story.
The two losers are ranked in order of chip stacks - NOT the hands they have.
This happens all the time when two players get knocked out - the TD never EVER asks "Who had the best hand", it's always "Who had more chips".
Same situation.

Re: Your opinion
i get your thinking, but because they were both in the hand, it is not important who had a better hand out of the other 2.
Had the player 1 been a non-td, it'd be a non-issue. So that positions stand.

I'm not perfect. I'm what perfect aspires to become

Re: Your opinion
You cant go on best hand ranking, as P3 being shortstack with the best hand would not have eliminated P2 if P1 didnt exist.
So the only logical way is to go on chipstacks.

Re: Your opinion
Obviously I wrote the rulebook so everyone knows what my opinion is.
Finishing positions in a situation like this is always dependant on chip stack size, not best hand.
Both players were eliminated in the same hand but player 3 was the first eliminated as all players are playing for the main pot, player 3 did not have the best hand so he is eliminated, player 2 and player 1 are playing for the side pot and showdown for this now, player 2 does not have player 1 beat so he loses the side pot and effectively finishes in second position.
That is why best hand does not come into the equation.

[quote="gundog"] what occured is possibily a 100o to 1 shot of happening again.[quote]
Happenned not long back actually Gundog at the Club, I was chip leader down to three against Reece and Demo.
I had about 80, 000
Demo about 50, 000
and Reece 40, 000
Reece raised pre-flop and got called by Demo and I, then he jammed on the flop and we both called again, that left Demo with 10k.
I hit 2nd pair on already paired board, and put Demo in for his last 10k
I think Reece had low pockets and beat Demo, but it didnt matter.
Demo had more chips.
We are good at our jobs!
